Greeting Cards - Quilling

Small scale projects are some of the benefits of being card crafters. It is so satisfying to learn a new technique, then be able to apply that new technique to quickly complete a project. If you are also a scrapbooker, you can also apply some of those new techniques to your scrapbook pages.

January's greeting card class will introduce you to the technique of quilling. You will learn how to quill, how to texture paper, and how to make the shapes used on these two adorable greeting cards, which are perfect for your Valentine or Sweetheart.

Please bring wet adhesive and a quilling tool with you to class.

Location: Michael's - Escondido
Date: January 21, 2007, 1 - 3pm

Gratitude Album

Give Thanks, With a Grateful Heart

During this season of thanksgiving, take time to identify and be thankful for the things that are important to you, such as your family, friends, pets, country, and maybe even your job. Gather together photos and mementos of all that you love and appreciate, and store them in this beautiful Gratitude Album. When the season has passed, continue to remind yourself of all things important and feel the joy throughout the year.

We are using the Rusty Pickle Mini Mini album, Prisms cardstock in fall colors and BoBunny's "Give Thanks" cardstock stickers for this project. And as with all of my classes, we're using some really cool craft tools to make our own embellishments; Ellison Big Shot die cutter, file folder, tag, envelope, eyelet washer, and folded gift tag dies and various embossing folders. And of course, we'll have another reason to use the Crop-A-Dile!

Location: Ever After Scrapbook Store, Carlsbad
Date: November 9, 7 – 9pm
Cost: $20

Tuesday's Tips & Techniques (TNT)

What is it? Tuesday Tips and Techniques (or Tuesday’s TNT) is a wonderful opportunity for crafters to come together on a regular basis. New crafters can learn about various products, tools, and techniques while experienced crafters challenge themselves with new ideas and try out products and techniques they don’t normally use. Here’s a chance to grow, to learn for the sake of learning, and to make new friends who share your passion for paper, paint, colors, metal, fibers and tools.

When does it meet? TNT meets on the second Tuesday of every month, from 7 – 9pm.

Here is how it works: Members pay $15 to attend a monthly club meeting. This fee covers the meeting, a make-n-take and a class kit of product. In order to keep your costs down, we do not include the idea book in the class kit however, the book of the month is available at a 20% discount.

Cool Deals for Club Members:

1. Club members will receive a 20% discount for all purchases made during club meetings. This discount does not apply to the club fee.
2. Purchase six "book of the month" idea books, and receive your seventh book FREE!
3. For each meeting you attend, receive $5 off a regular Moonlight Crop.
4. Attend six meetings, and receive a coupon to attend an EA Moonlight Crop for FREE.

Frequently Asked Questions:

1. Do I have to commit to a certain number of meetings? No. This is a “pay as you go” club.
2. Do I have to purchase the book of the month in order to attend? No. While it does help to have the book since club discussions will evolve around the “assigned” chapters, you can still get a full dose of good ideas just from the lively discussions and from the make-n-takes.
3. Can I start anytime, or do I need to wait until you begin a new book? You can start anytime.
4. Why would a beginner want to come? Will it all be over my head? This club is just right for everyone. Beginners can learn so much just from club discussions while experienced scrappers can share their vast knowledge of products and techniques.
5. So is this a social club or a book club, like what they hold at libraries and book stores? This is a combination of the two. While we have an idea book we are reading and discussing, we also encourage members who just want to be with other crafters, to learn from each other and support each other’s craft habits.

Altered Journal

Altered Journal. Cathy Zielske’s Clean & Simple, the Sequel, encouraged me to start keeping a journal. But I didn’t want just any old journal. I wanted one that reflected my personality. I altered an old fashion composition book and now use it regularly to journal my thoughts and ideas.

In the Altered Journal class, you will learn decoupage techniques and transform a composition book into your personal journal, ready to become a part of your everyday life. In addition to decoupage, we will also cover distressing techniques, methods for mounting ribbons and embellishments to decoupaged surfaces, and eyelet setting using the newest (and my current favorite) tool; the Crop-A-Dile. All experience levels are invited.

Please bring a paper trimmer, scissors, distressing ink and strong double-stick tape (such as "Terrifically Tacky" tape) with you to class. You may also want to bring brads, eyelets, buttons, ribbons and other embellishments to further personalize your treasured journal.

Recommended for all experience levels.

July 20 ---- 7 - 9pm ---- EverAfter, Carlsbad

My photo

Hi. This is me. I'm a Military-brat turned Military-wife, living the life of a nomad. I've seen and lived in lots of different places, but Southern California suits me the best. Leavenworth, Kansas is a close second. (No, not the prison! The PRISON is located in the town of Leavenworth). Every time my Marine calls me and says "Hey honey, we have orders", I hope it's California. So far, we've returned twice. Who knows, maybe we can retire here. I like calling California "home".

Ladies Rule With Our Tools

I'm telling you, it's all about the tools. I love to play with new tools and discover new ways to use my old ones. Craft tools help me to take my scrapbook pages, greeting cards and craft projects to the next level. Let me teach you to use a craft tool (or learn to use it a new way), or discover a new technique or interesting idea to liven up your hand-crafted work of art. I'm not talking about rebuilding your style, just enhancing it. -- Linda (Scrap 103: Tools and 3-D Scrapbooking)
